Daily Reflection #22

Title: The Anchor of Equanimity: Finding Stillness in the Storm

In the complex ecosystem of software development and leadership, we often encounter “incidents and accidents”—unexpected bugs, shifting priorities, or sudden technical hurdles. These moments can be chaotic and, honestly, quite daunting. Today was one of those days where the weight of potential risks felt particularly heavy.

However, I’ve realized that the most important tool in my kit isn’t a coding language or a management framework—it’s Equanimity (평정심). It’s the ability to stay centered and manage my mind even when the situation around me feels like it’s spinning out of control.

I resolved to fill today with purpose, regardless of the external noise. Looking back tonight, I can say with gratitude that it was a productive and happy day. The “incidents” that worried me were managed, and the sense of relief that follows a job well done is a reward in itself.

To those studying Korean: notice the phrase “꽉 채워서” (filling it up tightly). It beautifully describes the satisfaction of a day spent with intention. As a father and a professional, my goal is to provide that same “unshakeable comfort” to my team and my family.

Happiness isn’t about the absence of problems; it’s about the presence of peace within the problems. I am thankful for the “Big Flow” that keeps me grounded on this fast-moving planet.
