Title: The Silent Speed of Life: Lessons from Running and the Earth
I’ve been thinking a lot about Endurance (지구력) lately. It’s not just a physical trait; it is a fundamental factor in managing one’s mental health and evolving one’s life. This is why I find running to be such a valuable exercise. It’s a practice of maintaining focus and rhythm over time, much like the “Big Flow” I strive to keep in my daily life.
As a software professional and a manager, I often deal with high-speed environments and loud “noise” in projects. Interestingly, I recently learned that the Earth itself makes a tremendous noise while rotating at an incredible speed. Yet, we live our lives in peace and comfort because of the way it is “designed”.
This realization filled me with a sense of wonder and gratitude. If the universe is designed to provide tranquility amidst such immense speed, I believe we too can find our own “quiet center” through consistent habits and physical discipline. Whether it’s running or any other form of exercise, the key is consistency.
To those studying Korean with my notes: today’s key phrase is “꾸준히 하는 것” (doing something consistently). It is the engine that keeps our lives moving forward without losing our minds to the chaos. I am thankful for the “design” of my daily routines—my calligraphy, my English practice, and my time with Yuan and Chae-E—which allow me to stay grounded on this fast-moving planet.
Let’s keep running our own race, at our own pace, with gratitude for the silent speed of life.
