Title: Recalibrating the Routine: The Wisdom of Strategic Pause
Monday marks the beginning of a fresh week, a time usually reserved for high-energy starts and ambitious goals. However, today I find myself in a season of “calibration.” Due to a need to limit my physical exercise, I am currently in the process of designing a new daily routine.
In the world of system optimization, we often talk about “throttling”—intentionally slowing down a process to ensure long-term stability and prevent burnout. I am applying this exact principle to my own life right now. Instead of the usual intense workouts or golf practice, I am focusing on light warm-ups and mindful movement.
This shift isn’t a setback; it’s an evolution of my “Big Flow”. By limiting the quantity of physical exertion, I am creating space to increase the quality of my mental and emotional presence. Whether it’s leading my team at work, practicing English, or spending quiet moments with Yuan and Chae-E, the goal remains the same: to spend the day meaningfully.
To those studying Korean: today’s focus phrase is “가치있게 보내다” (to spend meaningfully). It’s a reminder that our value isn’t measured by the intensity of our actions, but by the intention behind them.
I am grateful for this opportunity to find a different kind of endurance—the kind that comes from knowing when to push and when to preserve. Let’s make this week valuable, one mindful step at a time.
That’s a bit of an exaggeration. I just can’t exercise or drink because I have a hospital procedure and I don’t want the treated area to burst.
