Daily Reflection #24

Title: The Silent Strength of a Protector: A Post-Holiday Reflection

Returning to work after a long holiday usually brings a sense of renewal, but my transition this time involved a detour through the hospital. I spent the final hours of the break undergoing various check-ups, including an MRI and ultrasounds. While the formal diagnosis hasn’t pointed to anything specific yet, a persistent and strange pain remains a constant companion.

As a manager who prioritizes clarity and requirements in my professional life, not having a clear “root cause” for this physical discomfort is a bit frustrating. However, I’ve decided to handle this like any other project: with persistence and careful monitoring. I’ll be visiting an orthopedic clinic soon to investigate further.

The most important part of this “mission,” however, is secrecy. I intend to handle these doctor visits quietly, without letting my children, Yuan and Chae-E, know. I want to ensure their world remains full of the “magic” and joy we talk about, undisturbed by the worries of my physical health.

To those studying Korean with me: notice the phrase “몰래 다녀와야겠습니다” (I should go secretly). It reflects the silent burden and the quiet love that comes with being a protector of a family.

Leadership often means holding the line in silence so that others can thrive in peace. I am grateful for the strength to be that anchor for my family, even when my own “hardware” needs a little repair.

Let’s start this new working week with resilience and a focus on long-term well-being.
